THANK YOU NETGALLEY AND KENSINGTON BOOKS FOR THE ARC FOR MY HONEST REVIEW IN RETURN. Synopsis: When Sara's boyfriend Ric ditches her on her family's get together, she finds herself at a loss. She is nervous to be alone with her family and their criticism of her. Luis was just mandated a week long vacation when he overhears Sara's conversation of distress. He has always been the good guy and this time is no different. When Sara asks him to fill in as her pretend boyfriend, despite his hesitancy, he says yes. While he expected to have a difficult time lying to everyone, he didn't expect to fall for her or for her to challenge his emotional past. Together can they work on fixing their family issues and fool everyone into thinking their relationship is real? Can they fool themselves into thinking there is nothing going on between them? Review: 4/5 stars. While I loved the easy banter between Sara and Luis, the challenges they gave each other, and the relationship...

Open Book- Jessica Simpson

Image
Synopsis: Jessica Simpson memoir written about her life over the last 15 years. Take a look at some very deep subjects and how she got through them to be where she is today. . Review: 5/5. From being molested as a child, her music career, her marriages, pregnancies, alcohol dependence, and family life changes she made you feel it. Growing up I listened to her music, but had no idea half of what she went through to get where she is today. It makes me sick to think of how badly the music and tv industries are about weight. She was 118 lbs, healthy for her height, and told she needed to get down to around 100lbs for her music career. Well any person would begin to have issues with body dysmorphia. She would have you crying on one page and literally laughing the next. I love how brutally honest she was. You felt what she felt during each of those times. 90% of the time I just wanted to reach out and hug her, the others I celebrated her victories or laughed with her. She went through...

I'm Lacey, wife of Matt, mom of Mayson and Gavin, Christian, nurse practitioner, daughter,  friend, Disney fanatic, healthy lifestyle chaser, and last but not least.....bookworm. I have had a love for reading since I was a little girl. I remember walking to the library and carrying a large bag of books home just to devour them in a few days. I've always had my nose in a book, I use reading as my escape from whatever reality I have going on at the time. Currently, that's working night shift at home amidst a global pandemic, but there have been other times in my life that character in book have gotten me through something. I've used Goodreads for awhile and over the last year have been trying to get pretty consistent at reviewing books with an honest review vs. just a starred review. Authors and readers alike deserve to know why someone gave them the rating they chose in order to choose your next great read or to enhance your writing skills as an author for next time....
